Short trailer for a short movie I’m currently working on. Yes, it’s short, but so will the movie.
Filmed on Super 8.

I was flicking through “1001 movies you must see before you die” when I came accross “Hold me while I’m naked” by George Kuchar. It was a surprise to see such an underground movie included. The editors clearly did a good effort to go as broad as possible in their selection. And in one go I also discovered that George Kuchar died3 weeks ago.
Another spot on the web where I can practice my Italian: “L’Archivo Nazionale del Film di Famiglia è un archivio storico la cui missione è salvare le memorie filmiche private: le pellicole 9,5mm Pathé Baby, 16mm, 8mm e Super 8 girate principalmente in famiglia tra gli anni ’20 e ’80 del secolo scorso.”
With around 200 hours of found super8-material at home I’ve build up a sort of mini archive too. A selection of my collection is now at “Het Huis van Alijn”.
If I remember well I first came accross Jan Saudek’s work in a Dutch magazine on photography, dating from the mid eighties. Since then I come accross his work with regular intervals, like today. Not all of his pictures appeal to me, but some have – with right – become classics in the history of photography.
The above clip is the trailer of a documentary released in 2007. On the official site of Jan Saudek a curriculum vitae can be found.
Terry Richardson on his snapshot technique, and what impression it made on people. See his diary.
It needs to be said that the point and shoot camera that he’s using in the clips – a Yashica T4 with a fixed Tessar 35 mm lens – is among the best ones made. Andy Warhol was one of the pioneers in the use of point and shoot cameras. “The shutter goes click” identified some of the cameras Warhol used.
I’ve fallen into the bad habit of buying more cameras than film – again. My latest purchase: a Yashica Mat 124G. Bought from an Italian seller it was a good opportunity for me to put my knowledge of Italian into practice. Looking forward for testing them both (my dusty Italian and the 124G), coming May, in Rome.
